The week after Halloween is a cavity inducing one for me every year, so what else to do with leftover trick-or-treater candy, but to have my students draw it, and (then depending on good behavior), EAT it!
We discussed the relationship between our eyes and our hands and how artists (woop woop!) in particular have a very close, "bestie" if you will, friendship between their eyes and hands. We followed the edges of our candy with our eyes and then with one finger, then translated that movement into our drawing hand onto paper. You'd be shocked how quiet it got when they were actually concentrating on connecting their eyes to their hands, so beautiful!
