Our second year as featured artists at the largest coloring book party in the world was a blast!
A few select artists were chosen to create their own mini-murals along a few skateboard barricades. These murals will live on display at Kona Skate Park all year long (and possibly longer) so be sure to stop by and admire them while you can. Students designed and executed these all on their own.
Artists included: Sabine Wiley-Bossy, Mia Graham, Lauren Garcia, Kahlaurah Gaskin, Emily and Elise Williams, AnnaKate Wheeler, (and the help of a few others on the mosaic barricade).
With the guidance of our trusty hand, Ang Marie, students also covered the entire parking lot fence is an array of colorful streamers. This fence greets all guests as they enter the park and is 120 feet long!
There was a bit of rain in the morning, but that didn't put any damper on the JWJ Art Spirit!
These artists were hustlin' and smilin' throughout the whole event. I could not be prouder!
We had three tables for folks to visit: A painted rock station, a mosaic medallion station, and even a small booth set up to sell the ornaments we made in order to get a little money back into our fund :)
All in all, a fantastic day spent creating, teaching, learning, bonding, and general 'FUN-HAVING' together! JWJ ART Rocks!!!
Major thank yous are in order to Kona Skate Park, Nico Holderbaum, and Surfdog Photography!!!
Now ... what creative ideas will we come up with for year three??!?!
